NFL Player News for Week 14 - Thursday Edition
KC - RB Jamaal Charles practices in full
    Source: KCChiefs.com
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Charles had an issue with the knee last week, which is something you never want to hear about your RB1 heading into the fantasy playoffs, but it sounds like it is nothing to worry about. He's got a tough matchup at Arizona, but you can't bench him.

OAK - RB Latavius Murray back at practice
Source: Contra Costa Times - Steve Corkran
Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday, Dec. 3, perhaps indicating that he has been fully cleared from the concussion he suffered in Week 12.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Good news for Murray here. It's a tough matchup against San Francisco but Murray showed some great flashes in his last game.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger's wrist not broken
    Source: ESPN.com - Scott Brown
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (wrist) said there is no broken bone in his right hand, despite rumors that speculated otherwise.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Roethlisberger is still a low-end QB1 at Cincinnati, although he is more of a boom/bust than a high floor play.

TEN - WR Justin Hunter out of hospital
    Source: TitansInsider.com - Terry McCormick
Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (spleen) was released from the hospital Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Hunter was placed on season-ending Injured Reserve earlier this week. He'll have plenty of time to recover as he gets ready for 2015.

WAS - WR DeSean Jackson not practicing
Source: NBC4 Washington - Dianna Marie Russini
Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (leg) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jackson was banged up last week, and the team could sure use him in a matchup against the Rams in Week 14. Check back to see if he practices later in the week.

NYG - RB Rashad Jennings not practicing
Source: The Star-Ledger - Jordan Raanan
New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (ankle) is not taking part in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This is not the sign we wanted to see from Jennings. His status is certainly up in the air right now. Fantasy owners should be preparing as if they're not going to have Jennings available. We'll know more if he practices on Friday.

MIA - TE Charles Clay does some work
    Source: MiamiDolphins.com
Miami Dolphins TE Charles Clay (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Clay might be back this week. That would cut into the fantasy value of Dion Sims. Check back to see if Clay can participate fully on Friday at the latest.

MIA - WR Mike Wallace limited in practice
    Source: MiamiDolphins.com
Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace (chest) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Wallace makes for a nice WR2 this week against a banged up Ravens secondary.

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson, Juwan Thompson on field
    Source: NFL
Denver Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson (ankle) and Juwan Thompson (knee) both practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Anderson has 59 carries over the last two weeks. We doubt if his workload is as big as a runner as it has been against the Dolphins (27 carries) and the Chiefs (32 carries). Even with 20-25 carries (plus a few catches), Anderson has a ton of fantasy value. He's the RB1 for the Broncos.

DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas limited Wednesday
    Source: DenverBroncos.com - Andrew Mason
Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (ankle) was limited in practice due to an ankle injury Wednesday, Dec. 3. Head coach John Fox said Thomas 'got stepped on' in practice.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Thomas should be fine for the team's Week 14 game against the Bills. We like him as a must-start WR1.

DEN - WR Wes Welker resting
    Source: NFL
Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker (non-injury) took the day off practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This is just some veteran rest. Welker isn't what he used to be, but we still like him as a WR4/flex play in Week 14.

SF - WR Michael Crabtree limited in practice
    Source: NFL
San Francisco 49ers WR Michael Crabtree (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Crabtree should be okay for Week 14. Make sure to check back and see if he can fully practice on Thursday or Friday.

BAL - WR Torrey Smith sitting out Wednesday
Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson
Baltimore Ravens WR Torrey Smith (knee) did not practice because of a right knee injury Wednesday, Dec. 3, but head coach John Harbaugh expects Smith to be ready to face the Miami Dolphins in Week 14. Smith's limp has subsided in recent days.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The injury to Smith sounds minor...at least that's the way the Ravens are treating it. They're being wisely cautious with the veteran receiver as he deals with this knee injury.

BAL - RB Justin Forsett misses practice
Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson
Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (ankle), who has been dealing with a sprained ankle in recent weeks, did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Forsett has a great matchup this week against the Miami Dolphins. Over the last two weeks, the Dolphins have been unable to stop the likes of C.J. Anderson and Chris Johnson. We see Forsett as a RB1 in Week 14.

DAL - Probable status for WR Terrance Williams
    Source: NFL
Dallas Cowboys WR Terrance Williams (finger) practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 3, and is probable for Week 14 against the Chicago Bears.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Williams has a great matchup against a weak Bears defense in Week 14. Even with the matchup, we only recommend Williams as a 'what the heck' flex option.

DAL - QB Tony Romo probable for Bears
    Source: NFL
Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 3, and is probable for Week 14 against the Chicago Bears.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Romo could go off against a bad Bears defense. He's a QB1 with the upside to be the best QB starter in Week 14. The Bears are terrible against the pass, and the Cowboys need to play themselves back into a playoff spot. If the playoffs started today, Dallas would be sitting at home. They need this one more than the Bears, and they'll likely play like it on Sunday.

NO - RB Khiry Robinson does some work
    Source: NFL
New Orleans Saints RB Khiry Robinson (forearm) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Robinson will be back this week, but don't look for him to take too much work away from Mark Ingram against the Panthers.

HOU - WR Andre Johnson resting
    Source: HoustonTexans.com
Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (non-injury) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Just some veteran rest here. As Officer Barbrady would say, "Nothing to see here people."

NO - RB Mark Ingram limited
    Source: NFL
New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (ankle, toe) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ingram is likely to be okay for Week 14. The team is just being cautious as he deals with these nagging problems. Fantasy owners need to recognize that Khiry Robinson should be back this week--Pierre Thomas has already returned--and the playing time for Saints RBs could be a bit different. Ingram is still a solid RB2.

HOU - RB Arian Foster sits out Wednesday
    Source: HoustonTexans.com
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Let's hope this is just veteran rest and Foster at least gets in limited practices later this week. A no practice week could create a game time decision and perception that Foster went backwards after seeming to trend towards better health before Week 13.

PIT - TE Heath Miller misses practice
    Source: Steelers.com
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This is just veteran rest. No big deal, and Miller is a low-end TE1 in Week 14.

IND - WR T.Y. Hilton on injury report
    Source: Colts.com
Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Colts need to be cautious here. Hamstring injuries are known to linger if not allowed to heal properly. Watch to see if Hilton can practice fully by Friday at the latest.

BUF - WR Robert Woods limited during practice
    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown
Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Woods is facing a tough Broncos secondary in Week 14. We can only recommend him as a WR3/flex play.

TB - RB Bobby Rainey in walking boot
Source: Tampa Bay Times - Greg Auman
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bobby Rainey (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 3, and he was seen in a boot for his injured right foot. Rainey handled punt and kickoff return duties in Week 13.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This isn't a good sign for his playing status. He's behind Doug Martin and Charles Sims now anyway....fantasy owners have other options.

BUF - WR Sammy Watkins limited
    Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown
Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This is good news for his owners, as head coach Doug Marrone seemed unsure of the severity of his injury. It still is hard to trust Watkins in our lineups in the playoffs because it has been a while since he seemed like a threat.

DET - RB Reggie Bush practicing in full
    Source: DetroitLions.com
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (ankle, back) practiced in full Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bush will be back this week, but he and Theo Riddick will split the receiving back role and both be worth little to their fantasy owners.

    MIN - Jerick McKinnon sits
    Source: Vikings.com
Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
McKinnon was basically declared out on Friday last week, so not even getting in a limited practice isn't a great sign for his Week 14 availability.

NYJ - RB Chris Johnson practices fully
    Source: NewYorkJets.com
New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Johnson had a big game against the Dolphins in Week 13. The Jets are running the ball a helluva lot more now that Geno Smith is under center at quarterback. This shift has made Johnson a low-end RB2/flex play for fantasy owners.

JAX - QB Blake Bortles a full participant
    Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles (shoulder, ankle) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bortles has shown plenty of toughness during his rookie year. He's getting blasted often and has been more than a bit banged up in 2014. Bortles is playing through the nagging injuries, and he's showing a small bit of improvement now that we're late in the year.

BAL - WR Marlon Brown making progress
Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson
Baltimore Ravens WR Marlon Brown (concussion) is progressing after suffering a concussion last week, according to head coach John Harbaugh. A timetable for his return was not disclosed.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Brown will have to get cleared by an independent doctor before he's cleared to play. Even when he's cleared, Brown is not a fantasy factor.

BAL - WR Torrey Smith progressing
Source: The Baltimore Sun - Aaron Wilson
Baltimore Ravens WR Torrey Smith (knee) is making progress with his knee injury, according to head coach John Harbaugh. The injury is not considered serious.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Watch his practice status during the week. If Smith can fully practice by Friday at the latest, he'll be good to go for the Sunday matchup against the Dolphins.

    TEN - Zach Mettenberger limited
    Source: TitansInsider.com - Terry McCormick
Tennessee Titans QB Zach Mettenberger (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 3. Mettenberger said he definitely will play in Week 14.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Mettenberger is not a fantasy option in what is the first week of the fantasy playoffs in most leagues. We'll see if he can make guys like Kendall Wright or Delanie Walker good fantasy starters in Week 14.

DEN - RB Montee Ball working on side
Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball (groin) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3 but is working on the side.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ball is close to returning this week. Check back to see if he practices on Friday.

DEN - TE Julius Thomas limited in practice
Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck
Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We should see Thomas back this week for the Broncos. He's missed the last two weeks due to this ankle problem. The Broncos have been wisely cautious with their superstar tight end.

BUF - RB C.J. Spiller on the field
Source: WGR Sports Radio 550 - Joe Buscaglia
Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (shoulder) is participating in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3. Spiller is currently on the Active/Reserve/Injured list and is not eligible to play until Week 16.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Spiller could play in Week 16, but if he's not really ready then what's the point? The Bills are going to be cautious with Spiller as he comes back from this injury.

MIA - WR Brian Hartline's injury not serious
Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson
Miami Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (knee) is dealing with a bruised knee and hopes to play in Week 14.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Hartline could play against the Ravens, but he's not much of a fantasy option. Rookie Jarvis Landry is getting targeted often in recent weeks as the second WR behind Mike Wallace.
