I was just asking if it's possible that Sergio from the mexican restaurant was talking about me when he was mumbling "poundtown" and pointing my way. Or if there was some female walking behind me (hopefully) because I don't want to lose out on the only mexican restaurant in town.

Although repulsive, this comment did not get the it so richly deserved.

When dealing with a “pound” play, on the face of it, it’s about making a bigger bet. But what really constitutes a “pound” play is the idea that this play is much better than other plays. Presumably, you calculate your own line or spread and determine that play to have a certain percent chance greater than most plays. That’s what perennial winners would do.
But all too often a “pound” play conclusion is reached with an emotional high that was either one dimensionally handicapped, or worse, the same conclusion was reached by many subjective methods. Sometimes these plays are born out of reaction to action seen earlier in the day. Save the highly experienced, we know what eventually happens to these betters.
The point is, the truth is, whether you are a winning or losing better, it is very difficult to justify increasing your bet to some ridiculous numbers of “units.” If the plays were that good, and you were playing to profit, then there would be no reason to bet any other plays.
And if you jiggle those bets too often, as far as your bottom line is concerned, over time only the big bets will matter.
It’s not just a money management issue. When you reach the “pound” play, really ask yourself why, keep your emotions in check, and, as always, track your bets.
Your results from your handicapping is a piece of information even the top syndicates can’t analyze, use it to your advantage.
Good luck and remember to pound the winners and lay off the losers.
