#11Leasing a car is a terrible investment when using your own $$. A company lease is a different story.
But this is your personal car. Why would you possibly lease? You acquire zero equity for the years you drive it.
I strongly encourage you to go back to school and finish your degree. HUGH mistake not too.
Have a happy thanksgiving.

#15Well, lease terms are negotiable so that may not always be true. I never saw a good lease deal when I was selling cars years ago, but I guess it is possible.Originally posted by opie1988Leasing a car is a terrible investment when using your own $$. A company lease is a different story.

#16Leasing a car isn't a bad choice if you can find the deals out there. I've leased a $24,000 vehicle for payments of $109 month no money down. I also leased a vehicle that was $36,000 for only $216 a month no money down. Both vehicles after 24 months would have more depreciation if I purchased them outright. That's when leasing is a smarter choice. But no one wants to sit down and do the math.Originally posted by opie1988Leasing a car is a terrible investment when using your own $$. The key is... you need time and patience. Most people want to walk in and buy/lease a car immediately. Always walk into a dealership the last week of the month... and do the deal 2 days before the month closes. Act like you don't really need the car. You'd be amazed at what offers they throw at you.Comment -

I drive so little miles that in fact I did have equity. I got out of my current lease with 17 months remaining b/c I had no negative equity. If I kept my lease until the end of the term I would have equity. Every situation is different. Also with my employee pricing I get it for a lot cheaper than most people would.
And instead of getting a company car, i get a bonus check every month I use for my payments and making these payments build up credit. So it's actually a smart decision.Comment -
