Not a Braves fan by any stretch, but that was smart, you get back a quality arm, for a decent hitting outfielder that was going to leave Altanta next season anyway because they aren't going to pay him the 17 million that he wants.

Braves traded La Stella too to the Cubbie for a reliever.

Braves shaking it up, when was the last time Atlanta won anything in any sport?

Heyward not worth 5 million a year

Tons of Latin players in the minors that would give you just just as much production if not more

Heyward with 2 gold gloves and a 6.4 WAR last year that tied him for 4th in NL with a guy named McCutchen

Still not worth what he's asking for.
If he has a .290/30/110 season with Cards, he might get it though.

Miller's WHIP (1.27) thouugh is still below league average, he only allows 7 hits and change per nine innings.
ERA is OK, little high, but OK, and gives up the same amount of homers as Cueto and Bumgarner.

take a look at this year's stats, nasher

hes garbage, or at least was this season

doesnt get groundouts, gives up 1 HR/9 (above average), walks above average and doesnt strike out anybody

his FIP was 4.53, he had a bad year AND got lucky

He is what he is, a dependable middle of the rotation starer.
You aren't getting Sandy Koufax for a good (however, not great) outfielder in his walk year who is going to demand 5 million more dollars then his team is willing to pay him, so, you trade him now, rather than get shit in return after the 2015 season, you got a live arm, for short money. Braves made a good business deal.

Braves are going to trade more players. The whole team was an embarrassment last year.

Braves only one who can win here with this trade. Miller has potential, Heyward just an average player if that. Move makes no sense for the Cards really. Don't like it at all for them. I guess they are gambling on a guy playing for a contract next year, but that may only may make him perform worse given his lack of a mental game in the first place.

Don't love this trade. Howard's OBP is pitiful. Wish the team would have brought up Piscotty.

Cards made this deal because they are 1) Top heavy in pitching, and 2) They are going to flip him to either Cincinatti or Seattle.
Heyward removed Seattle from his no trade list, and the M's are interested.

For now, Heyward is insurance for the sudden departure of Taveras.
