    Michael Cuddyer calls it quits
Mets signed OF Michael Cuddyer to a two-year contract.

No word yet on the financials. Cuddyer rejected a one-year, $15.3 million qualifying offer to return to the Rockies, meaning the Mets had to surrender their first-round pick (15th overall) in the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft in order to get this deal done. That's a risk for a player in his late-30s -- Cuddyer turns 36 years old next March -- but the Mets obviously feel he's a great fit for their offensive needs. Cuddyer batted .307/.362/.525 during his three-year stay with Colorado.

Why does the thread title say 'Michael Cuddyer calls it quits'?

I think the Mets are nuts to give up #15 and that money for this. But hey, it's the Mets.

He's 35 years old and coming off an injury.

Either way, another Met season of not getting Nelson Cruz.

Everybody from Colorado has inflated numbers. Mets clueless. Be lucky if he hits .270

that is a shame I think he should have waited and taken a better offer from a real MLB team rather than calling it quits

Not only is he not worth the contract they paid him, the Mets also have to surrender their first round draft pick (#15).

                  Mets get dumber every year

a first rounder and 21 million for an old guy that is injury prone and only produced recently because he was in Colorado

Jason Bay, Curtis Granderson, Chris Young, Michael Cuddyer, the list goes on.

Mets may win the world series next year.

You misspelled 2/5 of the rotation. Impressive.

The Mets are an extremely dumb team. Yes, they do have good starting pitching, but the FA signings they make are consistently terrible.

Cuddyer is a bad contract, just as Granderson was, just as Bay was, just as Young was, just as Pedro Martinez was, just as K-Rod was...
