#8Honestly, that would be kind of "dirty" to do Tom like that. He won them two SBs with pretty average teams. Doesn't matter who the coach of the Giants is, they'd probably be a 5-6 win team at best. Their roster sucked coming into the year, mix it in with some injuries and their roster is trash.
If anything, fire Perry Fewell, I don't think he even knew that Russell Wilson is a running QB.Comment -

Weird team under Coughlin/Eli.....Even the years they won the Superbowl no one thought of them as elite or even close
Still, gotta let him go out on his own termsComment -

#19Here is my problem with this. During Andy Reid's last year in Philly as a lame duck, the National Media buried the fan base of Philadelphia saying things like "be careful what you wish for" "Philly fans don't deserve a good coach" "Andy deserves to leave on his own terms" after 14 years of producing nothing minus 4 NFC Championship games which don't mean shit (especially when you lose in 2 of them that you were favored in at home). After 10 years in NYC, Coughlin delivered NYC 2 super bowls with less than a dominant team, defeating the Pats twice including one of the most dominating teams I ever witnessed (2007 Pats) and these guys just want to run him out and hang it all on him. penetrate that, if half that had the same fire/attitude that Tom had then maybe they'd have some life..........Comment -

#21he won 2 super bowls so he is untouchable.
New Yorkers think just bc they live in a big city the Yankees, Giants, Mets, Yankees , Jets, and knicks should be good every year.
I mean so what they got blown out at Seattle??? that had to be expected its a tremendous home field advantage... they have real fans in Seattle.Comment -

#25It doesn't get any easier for the Giants, SF coming to town isn't going to be an easy out.
If I'm a Giants fan, I stick it out with Coughlin, he seems to have the magic, whatever it is.
Giants have 3 division games left. They can steady the ship, beat on their rivals, give the fans hope.Comment -

#29Here is why he will stay:
1) New Offense put into place - needs time to gel and work
2) Top guys on offense injured - not Coughlin's fault (Jennings and Cruz)
3) Rookie RB not panning out (Williams) and Beckham is finally but missed a lot of games early in the year
4) In offseason, they invested way too much into the secondary. On paper, best secondary in the league. Offensive line, Special Teams, and other areas still a weakness that were barely addressed
5) Eli coming off surgery, older, and learning the new offense
All these things you could say are "against" the Giants. I do agree, that they need to shake things up but doubt he will get fired mid-season.Comment -

I hated when the Giants signed him, thought he was too much drill sergeant for me, but he learned to adapt, toned it down, and he became likeable.
He's saddled with a QB who is a pick machine, and if you look at his career, was a pretty good QB, not great by any stretch, who has limited mobility, they haven't had a solid running back in almost 10 years when Tiki retired, and as much as I loved Barber, he wasn't elite. Bradshaw was a good back, but really, what kind of run attack has Tom had to work with too?
You can't put all this on Coughlin, McAdoo is not the savior, I knew that experiment was going to blow up in the Giants face, you can't install that type of offense in one season, especially on that team that isn't their style, you can tell nobody is buy into that west coast offense or whatever you want to call it.
Tisch and Mara won't fire Coughlin, and Tom has no desire to retire, he will coach two more seasonsComment -

#32Nobody got rid of Gilbride.
Gilbride retired, and no he wasn't pushed into retirement, Gilbride had a contract on the table, with a pen next to it.
Gilbride wanted one last shot as head coach in NFL.
His Charger team sucked ass, brutal defense and his QB was Ryan Leaf, how'd that work out for Kevin?
Nobody got rid of Gilbride, he retired, he wanted to go home to family, and wait for a HC job to be offered to him, if not, he'll stay retired. He took a lot of the blame for the 2012 Giants though.Comment -

#33Coughlin has done some amazing things with this football team. But I do agree... he needs to go now. Regardless of how many championships and playoff appearances. I don't think the team is responding well to him. I also believe the OC screwing with Eli's head with those new QB techniques wasn't the answer either. A variety of issues... but Coughlin needs to go.Comment -
