Nationals need to get busy this off season

Bryce Harper proved he is a gamer and clutch player in the playoffs and the Nationals have a golden opportunity here to chase down a world series championship. They got some good pieces however I think they should make the following moves.

They need to sign free agent Victor Martinez and put him at 1B. This guy hit for average and power and struck out at average rate of only 1 out of every 15 at bats. (A League best)

Then I would trade Adam LaRoche for some bullpen help. Maybe they could trade him to Kansas City for Kelvin Herrera or possibly Nationals could do Laroche and a prospect for Wade Davis and Luke Hocheaver.

Also the Nationals gotta sign Jon Lester. Lester is the proven ace they need that group of young pitchers. Strasburg can't be your #1 and win a World Series IMO.
He is good but you need a more veteran ace that you can really count on.

3. Zimmerman
4. Strasburg
5. Gio Gonzalez

Thats what the rotation should look like. But they gotta add a serious bat , some bullpen help, and a top of the rotation guy.

this is good timing for this thread bear since free agency is just starting. if they somehow put together that starting rotation they will win it all. werth overachieved last year (for him) and must be dealt. laroche is just a statue at first and v. martinez (didn't know he was free agent) is a huge upgrade there. that should be enough but a couple of minor upgrades or tweaks would get them 100 wins but the playoffs are still a crap shoot.

yes the playoffs are def a crap shoot. Yeah I was just looking at a list of the top free agents available and among those are Sherezer, Big game James, Jon Lester , Victor Martinez, There is a new cuban dude coming as well he is an OF i think and the Phillies are reportedly interested in him. Also there will be a new japanese pitcher coming to MLB who is supposed make an immediate impact.

Hanley Ramirez is a free agent i think he would be a great pick up for the Mariners.

supposedly some advanced scouts think Ramirez should make a move to 3B. In that case perhaps he would fit in with Toronto and they could Move Lawrie to 1B and have a little rotation with the 3B, DH, 1B guys.

I like your #1 post Big Bear. I think your getting somewhere.
Lester will be a top target and he might budge with the money, but I think
he's going back to Boston. Vmart resigned with Detroit already, and Wash
will never receive those players from Kansas City, promise you. I do like that
rotation though, it's most defiantly playoff bound. I would like to see Hanely btw
with Washington, or back Boston

yeah i think next season Bryce Harper kicks it up a notch and instead being a #6 hole hitter like last year i think he will be an MVP candidate and #3 in the line-up.
