Yes, but it has to be within a couple minutes of making the bet. If you go back and say it was a mistake or the teller put the wrong game in, they will be ok with it. Obviously if the line has changed during that minute or 2, you are ******.
almost every book will give you 2-3 minutes to cancel it.

It also depends on the book.
I've seen a couple books that cater to locals more cancel wagers beyond that time period without a line change.

The best way to cancel a bet in case you cannot cancel it is to bet on the other result and lose 10% "vig" but at least you guarantee yourself to not lose it all.

As long as the line hasnt changed. I cancelled a bet about 45 min after placing it.

Yes, although it helps if it is because of a mistake and you simply want to cancel the ticket and immediately bet on the correct one. It's happened to me a couple times before, staff hits the wrong button and gives you the wrong bet. Both times I noticed it as I was walking away from the window. Just went back up to the window, told them I wanted to bet x but they gave me y, they canceled it and printed the right slip. I would imagine if you canceled it just to cancel it because you didn't want to make that bet anymore, they would probably still do it but would be annoyed about it. And like others have said, probably wouldn't do it at all if it's past a certain amount of time and/or the line has moved.
