I don't think I'm like that, but I have bet on sports for years almost daily. I want to win, I want sure winners.. I do enjoy the rush obviously and I end up going all in with bigger and bigger bets... He was just delusional with the comment that he doesn't want to bet just sure winners.. he needs the juice.. WTF?! I need more money to bet more personally.. and what the flyin f**uuuck was with that ending?!

He just paid 45,000.. on 3 games that were winners turning into mooses. Then puts 50 k on that game, and the ending to the game was unbearable. I've gone through this scenario countless times, but usually the wagers are 200-1000 range. And this took place in 70's.. 50 dimes HUGE amount.

Yes, and the free throw situation was the old way of the 70's. if u were in the bonus u would have 3 shots to make 2.

He was sitting in the tub listening to the game on the radio, and if I remember it correctly Jerry West was either at the line or involved somehow in the play,

Actually, he already got the 44k from his mom. Instead of hooking up with the book he bet 15k a piece on Harvard, Georgia Tech and UCLA. He then decides to go to Vegas that same night and runs his ma's 45 up to about 97k. Gets home and is awoken the next night by some collectors. Axel thinks he won. He hasn't. He squares up and then minutes later decides to bet his remaining roughly 50k on the Lakers to beat the Supersonics. It's a pk'em.

Down by one, Jerry West misses all three free throws but gets the loose ball back and hits a free throw line jumper to take the lead. Seattle inbounds, Goodrich knocks the ball loose but a Sonic gains possession and launches a desperation hook shoot which he sinks. Poor Axel buried himself when he didn't have to. We've all been there.

Oh, I just re-watched the movie for about the 20th time last night. Hence the total recall.
