Anyone catch the comment at the end of the Michigan State-Michigan game
Sean McDonough laughed after the Wolverines went for two to make it a 17-point game, saying something like "in case you were wondering, those points were big to certain viewers on the west side of the country" (Michigan was right around +17). Chris Spielman then reacted to the comment with a laugh of his own.

Just legalize sports gambling already for chrissakes. It's the elephant in the room. Everyone knows about it, a ton of fans do it, yet there are so many stigmas attached to it for whatever reason by our lawmakers and other governmental agencies.

Still trying to figure out why fantasy sports are legal in any and all forms, other levels of gambling are legal (lotto tickets, video slots, etc.), yet this still isn't -- and people just scoff at it and do it anyway.

I've heard comments like this made in NFL games before concerning totals.

Because if it becomes legal that's the only thing sports will be about. Everyone would be throwing games just to get their peoples rich.

It's mentioned in nearly every game. Almost everyone I know -- young and old -- has either an on-line account or is hooked up with a bookie. Yet when the topic of legal sports gambling is mentioned, the decision-makers in this country treat it like it's in the same category as manslaughter or crack/cocaine possession.

It's ridiculous. I'm hoping Adam Silver can get the ball rolling on our society moving past the stereotypes and taboos here. Time for a grown-up discussion. These sports wouldn't be nearly as big as they are without fantasy and gambling. Period. And the latter's been around and fueling the popularity a hell of a lot longer than the former.

              Gambling is already legal.

It seems to be all about stigmas. Fantasy is seen as harmless.

I play fantasy football but I hate the whole idea of it. It's created this obsession with stats that is ruining people's perception of sports.

Why would the NFL want legalized nationwide betting on the games?

The league is already at its peak popularity and basically prints money.

IMO this would really open up a can of worms-- anytime there's a questionable call by a ref, dropped ball, funny bounce, whatever, that impacts the spread everyone will be screaming fix

Agreed. And that's just plain stupid.

ESPN has definitely gotten more gambling-friendly the last few months.

Discussing spreads during the games, and on SportsCenter.

Honestly, I kind of like it hidden away, not talked about. Some of those college games really felt like they were trying to cover the spread, notably the Michigan State game.
