A pretty cool rant, looking back. Konck wrote that a year ago when, frankly, the idea of the Mets being in the world series a year later would have been farfetched. The last Mets season with a winning record was 2008?

Collins was despised as a cheap option for a penny pinching team and has since reached conquering hero status by winning big. He has almost no filter when talking to the media, even when it's a TV reporter in the middle of a game. Probably too late to fix that.

Actually seems to me konck was pretty accurate considering this was written in 2014.

Kansas City modeled staff with a bunch of gas throwers in the bullpen, the Mets did it with a bunch of gas throwing starters (that can actually PITCH I might add and are not just throwers) and have a gas throwing closer.

I also agree that Mets overcame some dubious managing to get here and would have won 100 games with a better manager.

Looks fairly accurate to me.
