hoke and muschamp are dead men walking, but a lot of times AD's don't wanna pull the trigger midseason because then the interim coach has to come from the current staff. if he does well, the players all rally around him and the AD has a tough sell bringing in someone new.

The Gators turned him down 4 years ago. Why would he give them the time of day, especially when his team is #1 in the country right now? If I'm Mullen, I'd say thanks, but no thanks. He can get another prime job down the road....possibly at Michigan next year.

this is what i was going to say. to mac's point above, i don't think anyone thought this was a bad hire. first year wasn't great but year 2 everything was gravy (until that bowl game...). this quick decline kinda came out of nowhere, no one saw this coming.
