Outside the top 10 (11th) for passer rating and his yds/att is middle of the pack (15th). He's having a good year but pales in comparision to Rivers, Rodgers, Peyton, maybe even Luck. Too many bad ints considering his offensive weapons. Not a Pats fan by any means (any Boston team for that matter), but flip Brady and Cutler and Chicago might be undefeated. NE, who knows. Throw Murray and Watt into the mix, no top 5.

crusty, nobody had mentioned Brady in the MVP discussion, so that comparison is kind of silly. Come on, he's not top 4 in the MVP discussion right now. Maybe top 10.

How can you put him ahead of Rodgers? Really. Hey, I'm the next biggest Cutler fan after you, but come on. Only 6 games in though, he could very well dominate a bunch more games and jump into the discussion. But right now, he's certainly not top 4 even among QB's. Rivers, Rodgers, Manning, Luck for sure, and probably Romo and Flacco all ahead also.

I think when all is said and done this season Cutler will be clearly among the top 5 QB's in the NFL this season, probably after Rivers, Rodgers, Manning and Luck.

This award is just about how much media hype surrounds a player, as it is about actual influence on a game. Watt fits this bill perfectly if he keeps scoring defensive td's.

Don't they give out player of the month awards? Cause thats all anyone on this list has qualified for as of yet. I'd say phillip rivers was clearly the best player in september, but lets talk again in novemebr when the weather turns to shit. Now murray and Rodgers at a pick em for october. Realistically looking at their remaining schedule I'd say Luck or Rodgers have the best shot

They have been waiting since the draft to annoint Luck and he has less weapons around him than Rodgers so he gets the tie breaker.

While we're at it who is looking good for best rookie?
