in retrospect, it's not mattingly's fault nor kershaw's fault. it's actually ned coletti's fault for forming such a crappy bullpen.

let's be real, mattingly and kershaw knew their bullpen is garbage. not as bad as the tiger's but probably next in line.

hence, when you think about it, mattingly couldn't pull out kershaw and kershaw didn't want to depend on the bullpen to save him.

dodgers had shaky bullpen all year and it came back to bite them.

another note, just look at all the pitchers numbers in the playoffs with 3 days rest.

most don't go beyond 5 or 6 innings. so you can't really blame kershaw for him choking in the 7th.

you know, with all this talk about how bad the dodgers bullpen is..... the dodgers bp was 5th in the league in innings pitched and 4th in saves. that's more innings than all the other teams in the playoffs. so mattingly trusted his bp and went to them often during regular season but suddenly couldn't trust them in the playoffs?

these dodgers relievers were some of the most reliable:

howell 2.39 era
league 2.57
baez 2.63
jansen 2.76

plus dan haren was available whom mattingly never used.

this embarrassing loss in on mattingly's piss poor managing (again).

dodgers really missed healthy paco rodriguez. he was lights out with lefties last year. then again, even brian wilson was lights out last year.

bullpen was their strong point last year... not this year.

but the dodgers are cursed. remember last year, they almost had st louis and st louis deliberately injures the hottest batter at that time in hanley ramirez and that was that.

this year, kershaw pitches flawless games till the 7th then that was that.

sucks to be a doyer fan atm... st louis does some shady shit, not a fan of that franchise.
