When i was in oz a few years ago my crackhead wife insisted on chasing down a pack of kangaroos to take a picture. I told her she was putting herself and my kids in danger and she laughed it off like I was the idiot. Who's laughing now??

Not really dangerous because they would generally run away before attacking you. But if you walked up to a couple of bucks doing that you might be in trouble. Or cornered one.

They hang around camping grounds and get tame enough to let people pat them in the wild. So at heart they are gentle.

I was hunting them once when young, maybe 12 or 13. I was standing at the end of a line of men along a fence. A herd of roos had been chased into the corner of the paddock with a car and as they ran along the fence line we shot them.

Well I had a an old double barrel 12 gauge and had used both barrels when this ENORMOUS red buck came past, propped and turned to look at me like he seriously wanted to kill me. he had just managed to run past about 12 men taking pot shots at him and survived and I think he wanted revenge. I think he must have been 9 foot tall when he reared back at me. I threw the gun toward him, turned tail and ran for my life.

My mother lives about 90 mins outside Sydney in a rural town and she has them graze on her lawn and hop past most days. Used to have to be careful driving at dawn and dusk even fairly close to the city when i was a kid. They are dumb as hell with cars. But I havent seen one in the wild for years close to Sydney


Edit: Actually I have. Last time i played golf, about 6 months ago, one stopped and shat on the green we were driving toward.
