He was throwing meatball after meatball I believe 8 fastballs out of 9 or 10 piches that at-bat.
And why?
Because Kershaw wanted to pound his chest and give Carpenter a big "Fukk you, I'm Kershaw" statement by getting some heat past him and striking him out.
