Can the 10th man rattle Bumgarner like they did Cueto last year?

Archie the thing to watch for with Bumgarner is his first coupla innings. In his last handful of starts hes really had a hard time commanding his pitches early on. By about the 3rd inning he settles down. The Pirates have a good chance of getting ahead early.

Cole pitched Sunday

Liriano pitched Saturday, and the Giants power hitters are righties. Not to mention that Edinson Volquez has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the past 6-8 weeks. He's hasn't been scored on in 18 innings.

im nervous about volquez in this game, would feel better if cole was pitching, theres a reason you took him first in the draft, im not a big believer in being great for a couple months will carry over

Bum all day! Volquez a year removed from being one of the worst pitchers last year. I'm takin the lefty that has proved himself in the postseason since he got brought up to the majors. There's no rattling Big Country!

keep in mind that the Volquez as a bum memory will be strong in MANY a SQUARE'S MIND

note the post all star stats, Volquez is NO joke and both of these guys match up pretty closely in stats for the season and the 2nd half...

Volquez in particular has been strong down the stretch

I think Volquez will be just fine tonight. He has been the best pitcher in the NL in the past couple months besides Kershaw. He has the whole city of Pittsburgh behind him and has been our ace this season. Lets go Bucs!
