Sirius Radio Power alley guys are calling the removal of Shields as a great move...
Not really discussing Ventura vs the bullpen though...

Regardless of the fortunate win...it was a terrible call to remove shields. No excuse. Just because his players fought like hell to come back and win he shouldn't get any credit or pass becaus of it.

All you need to know is that despite winning last night in dramatic fashion, the talk of the day is surrounding the managerial blunder by Ned.

He should still lose his job for that nonsense.
Not sure how you could ever trust a manager who implodes like that when the pressure is on.

would you rather have him bring in Greg Holland in that spot?

Point is if you take Shields out at all, which in itself was questionable at best after 80-something pitchers, you don't bring in a starter on one day of rest after throwing 78 pitches Sunday. Read what Pedro said in the link I posted, he summed it up nicely.

Agreed on all points.
If you have that little confidence in Shields (that he has such a short leash), he never should've been starting the game to begin with,
Then if you're going to pull him early, how do you justify bringing in a rookie who just started two days ago????? Ventura had one day of rest after his bad start on Sunday.
Surprisingly, he is taking heat for it. Usually the media ignores gaffes by the winning team.
Yost opted to pull Shields in the sixth inning for Ventura.
By the way, Ventura only pitched in relief once before, so he's not exactly used to entering high pressure situations with men on base.

Not making it correct but my guess is he was thinking down the line and figured this was the best move to keep his rotation in order.

This nonsense from the Royals will all end when they play the San Francisco Giants / St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series. If the Royals wanna play bang it out baseball their gonna be running into a powerhouse waiting in the National League ready to put a end to this. If the Royals wanna grind it out against the NL team they wont win. If the Royals wanna try and play aggressive baseball they will fold against the real teams in the NL. If the Royals think they will hit homeruns off of the NL teams again its not happening.

st. louis cant beat them without a healthy molina. royals are gonna be running A LOT on aj and tony cruz.
i doubt bumgarner loses another game that the bullpen doesn't throw until the end of the season though
