I will take a risk free return of 2.4% every time. If the bet I am making has return greater than most interest rates, then to me it's an acceptable bet.
Now obviously nothing is absolutely risk free. However a 7-3 lead with Jon Lester on the mound was an acceptable risk I was willing to take to get a 2.4% return.
Except for the fact that with most interest rates there is not a risk of you losing roughly 40 times the money you are hoping to make. You could made essentially 40 bets at EVEN and just blindly picked a side and would have gotten better value than this bet.
