#6You're crazy. Maybe the guy sacrificed having a family early because he was committed to his baseball career. Try stepping out on that field 162 days a year plus pre-season, plus all the traveling involved; it's like sacrificing your life and I'm sure there were plenty of days that there were aches and pains and he didn't feel like flying to Seattle or Minnesota.
The guy did everything the right way which adds to his statistics, making him a better player than he really was. I don't love seeing players making millions but in Derek's case, I can live with it.Comment -

The guy didn't have a family because he loves pus*y.(can't blame him)
Sacrificing your life being an athlete? What do you call having to work a real job for 45 years?Comment -

#8Sacrifice that was the dumbest thing I've ever read an SBR
He did not sacrifice anything in life
He was a money hungry guy
People that play sports don't sacrifice anything
Talk to me about military guys that have lost their lives fighting
Funniest thread I've ever read in my life
You guys are not living in reality
Playing pro sports is a privleldge and no sacrificeComment -

Baseball is a GRIND---20 Years-7 days a week for -6 months+plus pre season+ post season--no breaks--hotels-- He's not 20 now, he's 40. I'm sure he wants a family.Comment -

#10He made $200 million
Huh???
He could have a family easily most major-league players do
Please stop would sacrifice
If were talking about poor people a lot of them make sacrifices to help their families
Don't equate Jeter to making sacrifices of any kind
Only thing I know he was a Yankee legend and first ballot Hall of Famer with unreal accomplishmentsComment -

The guy is fukking playing baseball! Something that does not require good physical condition. A monkey can play baseball. It's not that hard.Comment -

#17Jeter sacrificed nothing. The millions of broke fukkin jerk offs known as Yankee fans did. Breaking their balls and backs to fill Steinbrenner's pockets so he could take the wheelbarrow of cash up to jeters multimillion dollar penthouse in manhattan.Comment -

#19dude
he could easily have had a family
he would have to leave them randomly throughout the season when they go on road trips
so what?
no other MLB player has a family?
the guy gave Jessica Alba the herps
don't get me wrong, I like Jeter. good player, reliable, never got into trouble
but praising him because he made sacrifices is silly
I would make the same "sacrifice" in a heart beat if I can make hundreds of millions and bang any broad I wantComment -

#23Jeter has been riding Yankee coattails a long time
since he was a kid.. the Yankees were such beasts in the 90s
cripes I remember Wade Boggs on that team.
it would be a mistake to over-associate the Yankee crowns
with one player like Jeter.
What if he made a career out of playing 2b for some other average team.
be not fooled.Comment -

#24The best ones are "When you think Derek Jeter one word comes to mind- class"
"You can say a lot about Jeter, but one thing you can't say is that he wasn't a Yankee"
