Problem is sports used to be a bastion of purity to escape the ills of life, but anymore sports mirrors many of the social aspects of life. Its no longer a pleasant distraction. And everybody is socially conscience anymore and someone is always in an uproar over something. ESPN is no different than how MTV isnt old MTV. ESPN drives the media market and theyve helped steer sports in this direction.
