What is wrong with the front offices of these baseball teams?

Why didn't the Mets trade Colon?
Phillies trade Papplebon? Utley? Rollins?
Rays and Zobrist?
Dodgers and Ethier (little tougher on that one)
There's other names too

Even if these teams had to eat a majority of salary the players mentioned could have netted some decent prospects and the players themselves really have no long term place on their current teams. I don't get it.
