Statistically last year was very good for him, arguably his best. Just watching him, I thought he played very good. He really had no talent around him. Didn't have the RB Bell for the start of the season, and his targets are average at best. Steelers didn't make the playoffs last year because the defense sucked and the Oline was bad. Big Ben still a top 10 QB and definitely a QB you want on your team in the playoffs.

I do agree with you that there isn't a lot of separation at 7 and beyond.

They had the best defense the NFL seen in ten years. Shutdown everybody. He makes the throws he needs to and doesnt turn it over why the hell do people think thats a knock on him? Hes a game manager, best I have ever seen. Thats not a knock. If you guys think he throws it down the field a bunch and makes tough throws he doesnt. He plays in a run heavy offense as well. Pretty easy to cover when u got the best back and the best defense in the league. Ive been following Russell Wilson since his NC state days im sure there is a post on here as evidence. Me and maybe five other people knew who he was before he went to Wisconsin. Now people are gonna tell me hoe great he is like I have no clue who he is. lol.

              2014 NFL QB base salaries:

              57 Russell Wilson $ 662,434

The NFL is a team game, fitting 53 guys(realistically, many more than that due to injuries) into a 133M salary cap.

Did RW make the SEA defense great? Yes he did, because the money not spent on RW was spent on key players.

Are you kidding me with this quote? Russell wilson is the lowest paid qb on their staff. THey pay his backups more. They didnt sign some big name free agents on defense for big money and go cheap and with a qb. That D was built mainly through the draft and their coaching staff molding talent. You better believe hes gonna get a much bigger contract when his rookie one is up.

Sherman & Thomas just got resigned, Chancellor/Bennett/Avril a year before that. It's not all rookie contracts.

Yea they were RESIGNED and not cuz they saved money on Russell Wilson. Your acting like "RW" took a pay cut. They had 2 qbs on staff they paid more to they didn't save any money at the qb position bro. Watch the tape of the playoff game vs the Saints. New Orleans had the best plan for him, made him throw go watch the game watch how many throws he missed that casual nfl guys can make. He's not elite. If you think he's better at qb than Kaepernick or Flacco you simply don't know the mechanics and fundamentals of the positin plain and simple.

They are already letting guys like Red Bryant and Chris Clemons go because of cap reasons, every dollar counts.

Tell me this, what's RW's next contract gonna look like? Whatever that number is, it's money saved right now.

I never said any of this. The backup QB discussion is irrelevant. The Saints have a great team, the make QBs look bad.

Its money saved cuz they didn't o pay those other guys? Youre a fukkin idiot. His contract is standard for a late round pick. Just cuz he ended up starting doesn't mean they didn't pay the other qbs my god your arguments are pitiful. You are a fukkin slacker.

Best value at qb right now?? Were talking about the top 10 guys playing the position going into this season end of story. Not best qb for best value. Why I even gave a shit about your worthless contract comment i don't know. Just another sbr poster that cant debate a subject so they bring in angles not related to the subject just to try to sway the argument your way, try to get me to say "ok, your right" Your not. Hes not a top 10 qb skillwise END OF STORY fukk his contract you idiot, are me or you signing his checks???? I dont care if he makes 600,000 or 60 million the guys i listed are all more talented qbs than Russell Wilson, most by a landslide. Fukkin 5'10" game manager is the NFLs new dog just cuz hes a black kid that acts like a corny white nerd.

                                      1. Aaron Rodgers- Id take him over any starting qb in the NFL if I had to start a team today. Makes some of the most difficult throws under duress I have ever seen, he is just a flat out playmaker. Throws frozen ropes. Always shows up in big games, don't ever remember him pulling a Peyton. Been playing behind dog shit line for last two years and a d that cant stop Niners to save their life.

                                      2. Peyton Manning- Were talkin regular season so had to put the Sheriff in top 2. His physical ability has obviously deteriorated but preparation still unmatched. Knowledge of defensive schemes unmatched at his position. See him having another huge year, winning division getting a week off and coming in and laying an egg. Hope im wrong, but he just is atrocious coming off a bye in the post season.

                                      3. Ben Roethlisberger- Guy gets no love. Had some off the field issues and experienced new OC coordinator and I see him having a huge year. MVP type shit. They got some speed in Pittsburgh, he's healthier than he been in years and best of all, nobody is talking about Pittsburgh.

                                      4. Joe Flacco- Guy won a superbowl, got paid and had a bad year I believe as a result and he's obviously over that now being its been a reality for a while now. Best deep ball in the NFL hands down. Think him and Steve Smith are a great fit and Ravens should be back in the top tier of AFC this year.

                                      5. Tom Brady- I fukkin hate this guy so If you think hes too low kiss my ass. Guy fukkin hasn't beat anybody in a decade post season. Nobody. Plays the bills, dolphins and Jets every year big deal. If Pats don't cheat Maybe hes a modern day Jim Kelley, we'll never know. He is top 5 QB no doubt, but keep in mind everyone listed above has WON superbowls more recent.

                                      6. Drew Breese- Prob gonna lead league in passing this year, or will be at least top 3 in passing but some of that is the offense he is in. One of his strengths is making the guys around him better and decision making. Is prob best for my money in the end of half/2 min situations when his pieces are all healthy around him. Unfortunately for him I don't see Graham being as effective.

                                      7. Andrew Luck- Kid has great size and an eagerness and talent to be one of the all time greats. Dude is lights out in the 4th q. His 4th quarter numbers are phenomenal for any QB let alone a very young guy replacing Manning. Student of the game and is more athletic the gets credit for. Another guy who has all the throws. Had no Reggie Wayne parts of last year still had a big season. Guy ever gets a decent receiving core lookout.

                                      8. Collin Kaepernick- Prob most mobile guy in nfl. Big arm. Not scared of the big moments. Rare in a guy with his backround. Good size as well. Think as a young player he will improve. Has good receivers and great head coach to help utilize his strengths.

                                      9. Eli Manning- Guy has a lot of turnovers but cant deny what hes been able to do. Last year was rough but I have faith he will get the turnovers down this year. Him and Coughlin been doing this for a minute and I think that division will be as tough as ever this year and their experience winning in the past will payoff.

                                      10. Phillip Rivers- This was prob the hardest spot. Could of gone with a few guys at this spot. He is a gamer and always plays Peyton tough. Had a new Coach last year that I think is a great fit and see that working out that much better this year. He also has been playing under some of the worst ownership in the league and has still had success. Veteran savy, plays hurt and is another guy with balls.

Know everybody will disagree with most of this. Oh well, had to get my football fix in some how. Getting so close to the start of the season not even sleeping at night.
                                      Eli Manning?

The best QB wins games, wins rings, make his team better. RW does that better than anyone right now.

If you want to contemplate an imaginary NFL where salaries don't matter, go ahead, but it's not reality.
