the reason i ask is most people in the outside world i run into at work, ymca, bars, etc... don't seem to be avid sports fans or sports investors...

I was 18 and bet orlando magic -9.5 or 10 at home vs the cavs back in 2012. i was in vegas and had my brother in law wager for me, he showed me the ropes then i got a bookie late that year

9 or 10 years old. Bookies at the races would take and payout bets to anyone of any age in the 70s in Australia. My parents owned a few racehorses so I started out betting on them. But quickly moved on to betting every race on the card before I hit 11

15... Lived in france back then you can bet in any cafe on sports (almost exclusively soccer and a bit of rugby and bball back then, they've expanded a bit now) no one cares how old you are even though theoretically it's 18+.

Only thing that sucks is that the odds are -125/-125... Sometimes worse. So needless to say I was a losing gambler for a while bar a hot streak here and there. I thought I could win 6 figures by the time I graduated HS when I started lmao. It seems so easy before you start.
