Yeah as a recreational gambler I am really lost here... what am I looking at? so this guy is saying that he uses advanced metrics such as points scored and points given up to model NFL games? does he have a PhD in statistics or something, it seems like that would be all but impossible to do?

            These rankings suck.

They don't take coaching and emotional intangibles to account.

this ranking is retarded. Carolina has no receivers and they are 3rd in the league . Arizona has a bum qb and they are 4th wtf. this is more like a defensive ranking not a team power ranking with the top 5 all being the best defensive teams. how is philly in the top 10, they are worse than they were last year, they will get lit up by their division friends Washington who are somehow near the bottom yet they have pierre garcon , desean Jackson, Jordan reed, rg3, etc. total waste of time

I think literally all you can do is copy and paste worthless stuff from other sites and put it in to a post that is riddled with grammatical errors and reads like a six year old mentally challenged kid's homework. Someone please saloon these stupid threads.

Here are generally two types of sports gamblers as previously stated in my past threads or posts. There are those who pick up the schedule and look at the point spreads for each game and say, "Eight points are too many, I'm betting the underdog," or there are those who will pick up the schedule and compare the point spreads to their own numbers and say, "This team is favored by eight points, yet I only have them winning by three, so I'll bet the underdog." Simply stated, power ratings are numbers that show the projected disparity between teams in points from a mathematical perspective. While the point spread has to factor in public opinion, power ratings do not, and for that reason alone, should be more accurate than the point spread more times than not. The fact that most successful sports bettors will most definitely fall into the second category, tells you all you need to know whether it's worth your time and effort to keep power ratings for football and basketball. A very important tool I use in betting the NFL& NBA. ITS YOUR CALL!!!!!!????

~Explanation of Data Items -- Calculated with J.J.Bascus Power Rating Analysis~

To express a point "the model that factors in defense and offense statistics including points scored, points given up, win-loss record, and strength of games played and remaining as stated". I have over 300 people all over country on my NFL mailing list that been following me with posts on SBR sports forum over the years. that I sent a link. Lot of these folks are not members or do not write threads. They like site with discussions, information, videos and more. Some these folks bet with offshore books with SBR sports forum. So ladies & gentlemen of the jury [SBR members], so my posts are not just for SBR members. They also recognize the fact that this Is an open forum, so they expect lot's of irrelevant comments[ Unrelated]. that they have to weed out. However there some great members here with SBR sports forum that believe in sharing ideas and information on threads posted.

~Explanation of Data Items -- Calculated with J.J.Bascus Power Rating Analysis~

Linear Regression Power Ratings - Based upon a Linear Regression analysis of points scored and allowed (i.e. Margin of Victories and Defeats). Simply explained, the above Ratings reflect differences based upon the following: "If Team A beats Team B by 7, and Team C beats Team D by 13, and Team C beats Team A by 2, etc., how much better is Team A than Team D?" Thus the above Ratings attempt to compare all teams based upon who beats who and by how much. The Ratings tend to be more accurate as the season progresses.

Average Line Played Against Power Ratings - Uses a similar concept as the Linear Regression Power Ratings, but are based on the lines used by the linesmakers in all of a team's games. The more that a team is favored, the higher its Rating. These Ratings are a good tool in evaluating and assessing how the linesmaker views each team and can be used as a guide in making lines on upcoming games based upon the lines that have been made in prior games.

Average Result Versus Line Power Ratings - Uses the concept described above for Average Line Played Against Power Ratings, but does so from the perspective of how a team has performed relative to the point-spread. For example, a team that is favored by 7 points and wins by 10 points has exceeded the line by 3 points while their opponent has fallen short by 3 points. Similarly a 4 point underdog that wins the game straight up by 10 points has exceeded the line by 14 points and their opponent has fallen short by 14. These Ratings can used a measurement of over-achievement and under-achievement by each team.

NOTES: Each team's raw Rating is adjusted for their individual Home Field Advantage (HFA) by adding one-half of the HFA to their raw rating to determine their Home Rating and subtracting one-half of the HFA from their raw Rating to determine their Road (away) Rating.
