A playoff team a couple years ago. Traded their all star in holiday. Draft Noel who didn't play. Draft another injured big man. And draft a player who won't be able to come for 2 years.

Sixers have been the talk of the town in philly for the last month... and all you have heard about on all three local radio stations over the last few weeks..
Sam Hinkie is stock piling talent and assets.. He knows this team will not be fixed over night, so he is putting together as much talent and assets as possible so that they are ready to go in a few years when they are also ready to spend some of that cap space on some key free agents.
I was hoping they would give some big name free agents the keys to the team this yeear and let them bring in whoever they wanted... instead its obivous that they dont mind being terrible for mulitiple years in a row building from the bottom..
This team has been middle of the road since AI.. so this is what it takes to build in this league. Look at what Hinkie helped build in Houston. The guy seems to know what hes doing. Guess we will find out..Comment -

This is really not that difficult to understand.
They tanked to get a top pick. You rebuild in the nba by deconstructing and gutting your roster and going with you cheap players. This leads to years in the lottery and getting top picks. Hinkie has acquired boatloads of assets in picks this year, MCW and Noel last year, future picks... The plan is as clear as day. It will take time but the years of being a middling team vying for the 8th seed are over.Comment -
I think Philly is basically taking the Cubs approach (Not as a joke, Under Theo, and obviously to be seen). Except in the NBA you can see it happening a lot easier, right in front of you.
As you said, clear as day. Stacking massive talent.
Embid could easily the best talent in the draft. Could be league altering type talent. Health being the issue. But, since they're in tank mode, no rush.
Block party of Embid and Noel, assuming both healthy and perform could be foundation alone. Add on Saric and it begins to make you think you want to buy 2017 season tickets on the cheap today.
I haven't even touched on MCW, the stack of assets, the steals they acquired in the second round that are all 1st round talent in ANY other draft. Big boom or bust guys.
There is a huge IF factor, and that is this is all premised on a lot of unproven ability. Luckily they're going with quantity and quality and should be competing and easily one of the more fun young teams to watch very shortly.
Next draft, most everyone will be evaluated on the current roster. For health an ability, and Philly can use their haul to target specific needs, to make a very complementary team.
