Ive watched every world cup since 1994 so not too many but i think there are three things that are key to the popularity in the usa this yr

Soccer isnt all of a sudden popular in the usa there are factors affecting it

1. The time difference only 1 hr off east coast time and 4 hrs off pacific time sonits easy to watch the games whether at work or hm

2. More goals scored than normal partially thanx to spain and tika taka not working

3. Espn coverage is oretty good
