Doubt they win by 2.....With Suarez back, Uruguay a live dog IMO....They also need a result to advance and Italy might not

Most likely Italy wins by 1, but a draw is more likely than Italy winning by 2+

Couple of things going in...both teams won in their first games so this game a point is crucial for both so wouldn't surprise me if this game is played close to the vest

Italian players can charm any ref my friend. They are wise foxes, all of them. If anything the Costa Rican players may be frustrated by ref calls.

Hot conditions, draw not a horrible result for Italy and Costa Rica underrated = no value in betting Italy IMO. Might sprinkle a little on Costa Rica HT/Draw FT at +1600.

I was impressed by Italy performance against England last Saturday but I've to say Costa Rica is a completely different team.
We've seen that, as usual, Italy loves playing against tough and solid squads (England this year, England again and Germany in 2012, Spain in 2008, France and again Germany in 2006 etc.) but they somehow suffer when opposing to fast teams, especially if they're offensive minded ones.

Anyway here's the results of similar contests (looking at team strenghts and bookie odds) played by Italy in major comps in the last 10 years.
CC = Confederations Cup
WC = World Cup
EC = European Championship

CC 2013: Italy - Japan 4-3
WC 2012: Paraguay - Italy 1-1
CC 2009: Italy - USA 3-1
WC 2006: Italy - Ukraine 3-0 and Italy - Czech Rep. 2-0

I'm sure 'Azzurri' won't underrate Costa Rica, first because they know CR already won a match vs Uruguay and second because they usually don't do it.

Italy to win at 1.56 is a solid one but Italy to score 2 goals or more at 1.66 is even better.
Or live betting for the over of course.

And I didn't agree about the draw chances.
After yesterday result I don't think Italy will play for the draw.
They know this is the key match of the group and they'll try to avoid a knock-out game vs Uruguay.

Yes, there is no reason for Italy to play for a draw against the weakest group team. They could be ko if they lose to Uruguay and Costa Rica draws with England in the last group game.

Winning today gives them 3 incentives. First, qualification. Second, 1st in group barring a big loss for them against Uruguay. Third, rest for Pirlo.

just heard that it will be really really hot during the italy v costa rica game, italia coach has asked for extra drink breaks but i dont think its gonna happen. italia may struggle in the heat now that im thinking bout it
