They never looked like losing to me. Even when Oz was up 2-1.
Complacency maybe set in after their Spanish Annihilation?
Australia was redlining and pumped since they were wary of being humiliated. Holland knew the W was a certainty.
That's basically it in a nutshell.

Holland did look fragile at the back at times.

Cahill produced an absolute miracle goal.
Crisp one take volley off a hope-n-pray long ball.

Holland maybe not first class but Robben is a star. Probably lack the supporting cast and solid enough defence to go all the way.

Hope n pray long ball?! It was a 30m pinpoint cross from within the attacking half finished with the best volley strike you'll likely see for years. I bet you would have called it masterful if Robben had manged to do the same thing.

How the hell do you call anything a pray n hope long ball that comes in from the side from inside the attacking half and hits the targeted player perfectly!

And the team very very obviously never gave the idea of humiliation one seconds thought. They came out confident and controlled and had plenty of time to control and play the ball from the first whistle. The Dutch were on the back foot for the entire first half.

You may have "known the win was a certainty" the entire time, but clearly you either weren't watching the game closely or are simply an awful judge of a soccer match. Did you even notice the Dutch coach was forced to change the entire game strategy they started out with and move to to a 4-3-3 setup? Do you think he "knew the win was a certainty" when he made that panic change?

last 2 games in this group will be awesome.

Chile will come out confident they can beat Holland to top Group B after they saw how Aussies handled them. (and avoid Brazil in 2nd round)

Spain will be demoralized and Australia will sniff the chance to possibly put a stake through the heart of the champions.

Before this started I would have parlayed Holland/Spain in that situation without doubt.

But here we are and the reverse looks a decent chance. Going to be a great final day of group B games despite the qualifiers already being decided.

Hated that Aussies got stuck in the group of death but it's turned out to be the most interesting group by far I think.

Thanks NguyenImproved. I took them on a futures last World Cup and then hedged last game against Spain. Been kicking myself for not taking them this World Cup after they destroyed Spain. Took Italy this time.
