They need a big bat . Additional . Cano was right on it since he signed with the team . It will come back to bite them

JJ do you say these things just to be silly ? "Pitching real bad". WTF are you talking about, they rank #3 in starting pitcher ERA, #1 in bullpen ERA, Overall ERA is number 1 or number 2 in all of MLB. The Mariners ERA has been hurt badly by Brandon Maurer and some of the other #4 and #5 starters, but they wont be starting in the playoffs. You only need 3 starters in the playoffs. Give me Felix, Iwakuma, and probably Elias along with the best bullpen ERA in the AL. The hitting is not good, but when you say "pitching real bad" you are either being silly or just don't know WTF you are talking about.

If they get David Price they could do it. Giants did it a couple years ago with a ton of pitching and no offense. A playoff rotation of Felix, Price and Iwakuma would be over-powering.

that's true. there was talk of them trying to get Price before the season, but it didn't happen. While I would love to get him, I would settle for one really good bat.

The Mariners continue to play great ball. They are one of the hottest teams in baseball. Even with being stuck in a division with the #1 and #2 records in all of MLB, they still have a shot at winning this division. Even with the Wild Card, they are going to be dangerous. Noone wants to face the Mariners in the playoffs.

You got that right. But its no guarantee they make the playoffs at this point.
Also even once they clinch the wild card its risky betting on a team that is facing a 1 game playoff.
Let me ask you this. Say they win that wild card game...
what do u think the odds would be after they have clinched a birth into the ALDS?
i'm guessing 8-1 odds to win the world series at that point.

they have no solid #3. paxton kid is pitching over his head and chris young is not gonna cut it on the road against a good hitting team.
if they get to the wild card game they will probably go to alds though.

Yeah if they can get that far, probably 8-1 to 10-1. But I think their true odds would be more like 3-1. They have done very well against the better teams, and they will have the best pitching of any team in the playoffs.

wouldnt be shocked if the A's and Royals choke and miss the playoffs.
Tigers win Central and Mariners and Yankees get the wild card.
No way the A's can over come the Jaso injury.

First of all, these days teams go with 4 man rotation in playoffs not 3 man. And 2nd of all, too much homerism is this thread. Please keep it real. Elias is NOT the best #3 in the game (not even close), & he's NOT better than most teams #2 (not even close)!!

Weren't you the kid that proclaimed in every thread on a daily basis that the KC Royals were the worst team in baseball & one of the worst teams of all time <-----true story ~ That was you correct??
Now you're trying to find a scenario where they choke & don't make the playoffs

Jaso is nearing a return. Just waiting for the okay from the Dr.
He will likely be used as a DH to avoid another concussion.

The Mariners are going to get a wild card, likely the #1 wild card. Its down to 4 teams fighting for 3 spots
Detroit 81-66
Oakland 81-66
Seattle 80-66
KC 80-66
That is like a team division now, with only the last place finisher getting left out of the playoffs. My guess is itwill be Oakland, but it wont be Seattle.
AL Playoff Teams could be
LAA
Balt
Detroit
Seattle
KC or Oak
I think We handle each of these teams rather easily with the exception of LAA. We will take them out as well. It just wont be easy.

What is so bad about that ? Back in the day, people cheered their home team on and had faith even when their home team didn't have a chance. As a kid, I lived I NW Indiana and cheered hard for the Cubs every year even though they had never done anything. It was nice to believe ad cheer for your home team just because that was your team. and every once in a while they came through, like the seahawks last year. but that was back before everyone started thinking they could beat the juice.

tonight is one of the first sellouts in a very long time for the Mariners. Playoff atmosphere... Instead of the usual kings court with yellow felix shirts, they are doing supreme court for the whole stadium...

winning run Oakland got in the 10th inning off of 4 walks. Oakland didn't even hit the ball out of the infield in the 10th and scored the game winner. Ouch.

Mariners such a disappointing weekend series.
Now they have an 11 game road trip. These next four at the Halos are so huge. Determine whether they stay in range of that second wild card spot.

rodney losing the 2nd game pretty much settled it, imo.
