Guess they didn't bring him up yet. I got to see him play last night, wasn't even expecting it as I didn't even know he played for Indy but was cool to see. He hit a homer in the top of the 1st but of course got to the stadium at the bottom of the inning. He looks like a beast sitting out in right field, was wondering who the hell he was until I heard his name and remember this thread. I would have got there earlier and tried for an autograph or something if I knew.
He had a chance to throw someone out at home, solid throw but not really a cannon. Smooth hitter though.Comment -

Difference betwen Polanco and a lot of the other guys mentioned is advanced plate discipline for his age and progression. Should be exciting to watch him at the top of that order.Comment -
yeah the Pirates are no doubt the cheapest organization in baseball IMO, It is a fact that they are cheap
but its also a fact that 90% of the time 90% of teams do the same thing with their prospects.
those few months of waiting, gain you a a full year
and in many cases those ABS in AAA are needed anyways.
Polanco in this example, had very few ABs in High A and AA last year and only 9 abs in AAA
a bit of time was in AAA was warranted for him this year to not rush him.
I think Josh Harrison's surge has allowed the Pirates the luxury of keeping Polanco down a little longer and be sure to save those nickels, while not hurting their small chances for this year.

Cuser that's cool that you got to see him play. You never know when a star is born so always good to have a story to tell just in case. I remember watching Felix Hernandez pitch for Tacoma when they came to Sacramento.
Gotta be any day now for the Rats to finally make the move. I imagine they are just giving him a few more days to gain experience leading off. Plus Josh Harrison has hit .429 the last 8 games so they're letting that streak play out.Comment -

Yeah, I love seeing players in the minors before they get called up. Chase Utley will always be a favorite of mine because I got to see him dominate here when I was young. Polanco will be another I root for.
