Not sure it has been mentioned, but the Cavs chances to get the 1st pick in 2011 was NOT 2.8%. They finished with the 2nd worst record and had 19.9% of the combos with their pick. The Clippers traded their 1st round pick February of that year to them and that's the one that got the Cavs the 1st pick. So whenever y'all are calculating the odds, you're doing so only with the combinations that they got from the Clippers pick. In reality their chances to get the 1st pick that year were higher.

NOBODY has said your simple calculation was incorrect. Multiply those 3#'s together and of course you come up with .007

The argument is, it's invalid and inaccurate to omit the 4th season. You do not get to pick and choose which seasons you want to include and then arbitrarily throw around a number like it means something. It doesn't.

How bout you include every year the Cavs have had a number one pick in your cute little stat? But be sure to cherry pick those years though and exclude all the other years they didn't win it. Or it might just make it a little less dramatic.
