The NBA voted him MVP. So they would make sure they don't look bad by having him getting eliminated early. NBA wants the MVP to go to the finals. This is their selling point. It has nothing to do with big/small market. The NFL does the same.

To be fair, OKC has won 75% of their games each of the last 2 years. It's not as if the Magic are 11-0 when Brothers is reffing oKC wins a majority of their games regardless who is out there
