Media will eat this up. Probably play it out to be a heroic ending if drafted early or discrimination if drafted later. Maybe they will get Donald Sterling's input too.Comment -

#17It'll just be something they talk about in the later rounds. I haven't heard much about it leading up to the draft. It's like most things in the media --- they go strong at a story for a week, and then it's an after thought.Comment -

#18Teams won't want the media circus that will surround this guy. Just like the all dropped Tebow, because of the circus. Sam might get picked in the later rounds if he is needed, not because he's gay.Comment -

#19Already made a thread about this Sam. I said this will be the next media outrage following Donald Sterling. Media will probably run with 31 teams being homophobe bigots who passed on him. Whatever team drafts him will be the media darling of the upcoming season. And I guarantee you that whenever he gets drafted, all the teams behind that team in the draft order will release statements saying "OMG we were so going to pick him with our upcoming pick!" regardless of whether or not they were going to, just to cover their asses.Comment -

#20Gay people don't follow the draft, generally. So, naturally internet writers will be able to spin it, especially those aimed at the queer demographic.
Major media, especially those covering the draft, will make it a talking point in the later rounds , as nobody watches that shit and there is nothing else to talk about. He is literally the most interesting story line come late draft.Comment -

#21Longer Analysis:
He won't be taken in the first four rounds and the media will begin to beat the "NFL teams are bigots/homophones" drum.
Eventually this will get into the GM/Owner heads and Michael Sam is going to become a giant game of hot potato. I think coaches/GMs don't want that media circus that comes with taking Sam as a distraction, so all 32 teams are going to hope that the other teams draft him so they don't have to.
Sam will not be drafted in the 5th round and its still a game of hot potato. Teams hoping that other teams take him by the time their pick comes up. The "NFL teams are bigots" and the "This is a PR disaster for the NFL" drum beats even louder and harder.
Eventually some team will pull the trigger and draft him in the 6th or 7th round. Media praises that team, and that team becomes the media darling for the 2014 season. Media will try to make that team out to be the Dodgers when Jackie Robinson played his first year. But at the same time scolds the NFL for taking him so late.
And I guarantee you that the dozen or so teams directly behind the team in the draft order that ends up drafting Michael Sam will all trip over themselves trying to release statements saying "OMG we were so totally going to draft Michael Sam with our next pick! But he ended up getting drafted! Rats!"
The team that ends up drafting Sam, every single person in the organization, from the players to the scouts to the trainers, right down to the day laborers who clean up the trash out of the stands after games, will all come out with statements saying "I am so proud to be apart of this historic team, I accept him with open arms", whether or not they actually believe it, but will be pressured into doing so.
If he goes undrafted, it becomes another game of hot potato for the team that signs him to the free agent contract.Comment -

#26not to knock the kid but when auburn and mizzu are in the SEC title game, it's a down year in the SEC. it was a down year period. i kept saying this in late december and early jan, though i posted auburn +10.5 or whatever it was vs florida state.Originally posted by rm18remember he was SEC defensive player of the year, when is the last time that guy went 6th round he probably will be a steal he will backup Aldon Smith maybe

Rimshot...In all seriousness the kid is from around my area and he's a gamer...and he's really respected by the Columbia community and gets along well with his teammates. If he gets a chance he'll do fine...until people found out he was gay he was probably a mid-rounder, and he will probably still get drafted there. Don't be surprised if the Chiefs don't take him

#30Hopefully the Texans take him as the last player selected - Mr. Irrelevant, then the Pro-Gay media can have have a field day. Plain & simple, Michael Sam doesn't have the talent to play in the NFL, , Tim Tebow is more NFL ready but NFL teams don't want the distractions.Comment -
