Montreal Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban was the target of racially insensitive comments on social media following his double-overtime winning goal in Game 1 against the Boston Bruins on Thursday.


Bruins president Cam Neely issued a statement on Friday regarding the reaction from some members of his team's fan base following the loss.


The statement reads as follows:


"The racist, classless views expressed by an ignorant group of individuals following Thursday's game via digital media are in no way a reflection of anyone associated with the Bruins organization."
