"We may not have the power to force Mr. Sterling to sell his team, but make no mistake, we believe that Mr. Sterling should no longer have the privilege of being an owner of an NBA team."

"...Silver is reportedly looking at the "nuclear option" on Sterling, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. There's a provision in the NBA bylaws that could potentially allow Silver to summon a vote of league owners to strip Sterling of his ownership, with the league taking over the team until it could be sold."

I don't know and I just asked Matt Winer and the Yahoo guy that broke it that very question on Twitter. What are the odds one of them responds?

Interesting thoughts on what if Silver does nothing:

Barry LeBrock (An edited version of this story appears on FoxSports.Com) Never before has an issue so widely debated been so inevitable ...

If he is, Doc Rivers will quit for sure and stars will demand trade, although probably be forced to play out their contracts if they are not obliged. And no free agents will sign with them. Read the link I posted in post #7. But it is a given that Silver will do SOMETHING, the question is what.

That might be true if money wasn't involved.

hmm nope, he will be signing checks as long as he wants to be. And black players will happily cash them.

What, is part of the lifetime ban having someone else sign his name on the checks?

I must have missed that part. I'm sorry you don't like the founding principles of America, but you're on the wrong side.

I'm sorry, I assumed "banning" included stripping of ownership with the NBA owning the team until a buyer was found. It's probably moot, Magic will be signing the checks soon.

O no, it's all about context. Banning in this case means an attempt to force sterling out since they have no legal grounds to do so. They will try to isolate him but all the matters is the other owners will not vote to force the termination of his team. So no, your wishful, anti-american dream of Magic signing checks will not happen.

I couldn't care less WHO buys the team, I just feel strongly that he should no longer own it.

Funny thing in all this are the guys who took his money to play or coach there, full well knowing his rep. Now they have to act all offended to look good in the public eye.

Biggest shit ass in all of this other than Sterling is Stern. Too big of a $ digger and pussy to have put Sterling in his place years ago.
