Literally yes literally 90% of the time these guys r dead wrong when they say this. Maybe Rex Chapman will be in the 10% who is right when he says coach Calipari is going to the Lakers and it's a done deal.
Examples I have heard in the media and with friends:
2001 a ucla fan I know said when lavin was on the hot seat. "Pitino to ucla is a done deal". Wrong.
A few years later 2007 I think when Lloyd Carr was leaving michigan a media member said ron English to go from Def coordinator to head coach was a done deal.
Wrong.
A few years ago multiple people I know saying the pac 12 was expanding to 16 teams and Texas and Oklahoma going to pac 16 super conference was a done deal.
