I've been to several bashes, and they're absolutely first class. Start to finish.

If a poster can't afford to go, then they're most likely not helping to support the site financially anyways. As good of a guy as John is, he ain't running no charity. The bash is SBR's way of saying thank you to those that support them. It's a reciprocal relationship.

In reality, 50 of the right guys would be plenty to make it a great trip.

The people who keep SBR in business are those depositing thousands offshore over the course of the year. Those people can afford to travel to the DR.

Does nobody any good if a bunch of low-life scraper by's all converge on Vegas because of free hotel and they could hop on a spirit flight for $100. It'd be a fun time I'm sure, but from SBR business perspective... Futile and useless.

The bash in Costa Rica was phenomenal. There was fishing, golf, poker, and a harem of girls for each poster.

Personally, I like something different than Vegas. As Opie explained its good business. I've been to this place and smoked Cuban cigars at the craps table while nursing a sunburn that wore through my sunscreen. These are world class beaches. There are lifeguards and after you swim out 50 yards you will know why. Everyone(ie all the girls) on the property are drinking free. I opted for an afternoon horseback ride on the beach. Every few miles I refilled my bourbon. Should of got a DUI.

For those who can't swing it just keep plugging away. There is no shame in not being able to afford this trip. Don't let anyone get you down. All of us were brokediks for half our life and I certainly wouldn't be on this guest list in my younger years.

Don't think SBR could pick a more awful time and place for a Bash.
It's like they don't want anyone to go.
50 ppl show up max.
That's not a 2 or 3 day weekend spot.
It's a week long vacation kind of location.
$500 a night for rooms so if you want to actually stay there the whole superbowl week and not just 2 nights, it's going to cost you a fortune.

The airfare is steep, and you are talking about a forum full of broke dikks.
Probly 10 members that would go that aren't even allowed to leave the country.

Vegas was the only logical site for the best turnout.
It's cheap, it's great for 2 or 3 days, there's no sites to see, and would be your biggest turnout.
Not to mention there is no better place to be for a SuperBowl than Vegas.

Sounds like it'll be a hell of a time. I've spent probably 14 weeks of my life at the Club Med there for Spring Breaks and it is absolutely phenomenal. I've played a lot of good golf and Corales (in Punta Cana) just might be my favorite course I've ever played. Never looked forward to a superbowl more and look forward to meeting you and the rest of the gang at the Hard Rock in 10 months

Only downside is the rain, which I'm assuming can be an issue in February as well, but oh well, so be it if we get stuck in the casino gambling for a day (oh, the horror )

This is not an inexpensive joint. BUT, keep in mind they have fabulous restaurants, clubs, concerts and bars and everything is free. I dined in the steak house every day...making sure I get my moneys worth. I think our rate is around $500 a night.

Also, I don't agree with the poster who said this is a week long stay joint. Three or four nights is perfect if you play hard.

BTW, a very soft poker table there. Newbie central. Bunch of drunk sunburn guys who watched a little too much poker on ESPN/ Maverick.
