I truly believe part of what makes you a good capper can't be taught, it's just like an instinct for how things will play out. I think it comes with practice and experience. I am a lot better capper than I was 3 years ago when i started.Originally posted by Jcole94
Other than that its simply knowing how teams play, how an average game of soccer goes and how the variables both teams present will effect that. Also If in a smaller league i look for games with a spread of 1 or greater I find that with that much of a handicap one way or another its easier to cap. It also indicates a large gap in skill which means the favorite should win in some form. I try to avoid cointoss games or close matches unless its high profile and I can't resist.
I also have an equation for determining which line I will take (1 or 1.5 etc) but that's not really something I want to get into.Comment -

But more on topic - I backed Chelsea tomorrow. Yes that's right. I'm sitting here typing this, drinking, wearing my diego forlan atletico madrid jersey and contemplating if I've made a huge mistake. I hate myself right now.
This happens in the champions league every few years - atletico has had it's fairytale run. I think it ends tomorrow. Chelsea is just way too solid, and they really impressed me with their tactical dismantling of a liverpool side that was unbeaten in 2014. In Chelsea's second leg match against PSG, John Terry said that Mourinho had drilled into each player a specific game plan which they would implement depending on every imaginable scenario that could occur in that leg. When you have someone who is that much of a throwback to football's early mastermind coaches, and when you see him patrolling those sidelines in third-world country clothing with that sunken, coked-up expression and that 5-day stubble, it's hard not to admire someone who is so compelled to win; so proud to be the greatest mind in the today's game.
Chelsea to advance tomorrow @ 1.94. If you want value, Chelsea to win to nil @ 3-something.
