I basically look for lopsided pitching matchups (hot starter vs cold starter) and lines that I think offer good value (Elite teams close to EVEN on the ML)

Basically I bet more dogs in baseball average odd around +110, usually dont waste my time with anything less than -140 and very little long shot dogs over +160. With those odds Im closer to 50% win rate with a variance of 2-3 per season.

It is the one sport I like to play totals in. Because like JJ said, it is all about pitching.

There was a system a guy used 3-4 yrs ago on here kinda like ProlificD is saying.
Bet teams on 3 or more game win streak and pitcher in top 20 in rankings for pitchers in USA Today.Basically same money lines as Prolific mentioned.Cant remember the name of that system.Im sure someone on here remembers it,maybe guy still posts plays, idk.
Only play games that fit in the criteria.Dont force it,its a long season.
Having said that,I wish I could have that discipline all season long.Sometimes with work, and kids playing ball,I don't put in the work and get sloppy with it.
Bankroll Management.Once again easier said than done for me.
Good luck men,
Fieldy

I was also thinking that if you got a game that's live and you are already on the winning side - you could hedge in the late innings. That insures winning too. Not sure if in the long run hedging is better or not though. Probably depends on how good the bullpen is of the team you are betting on.

except in a game like tonight.
No need to hedge if you have the Dodgers.

Dodgers still win. Seth smith wont get another AB.
He is the only hitter on the Padres.

Ride hot pitchers/teams and fade dumpster fires on the mound
Usually sit out a month or 2 then start firing

Fading the public in baseball is a money maker if you can catch them at the right time.

I could have gotten Padres +475 after the top of the 7th inning but I didnt do it. I think I may hedge from now on regardless of how good the bullpen is just to build up steady bank. I'm not greedy.

Money Management & Shopping Lines are key, but in baseball, you cannot bet into a .20 cent line. If your book doesn't offer a true dime line, then find another book.
It's not about winning %'s but rather money/units won, as you must not be afraid to play dogs. People say you can't play more than -150 favorites, but the truth is you can play a -250 favorite if the line has value!
You have to look at bullpens as well. Starter's important, but bullpens and available bullpens is another key factor.

I open up about 8 windows and have the retractable dome stadium phone numbers on my speed dial. I also follow their twitters to get the dome data. An open Chase Field or Safeco or Marlins Stadium changes a lot.
I use dailybaseballdata.com for batter/pitcher matchups and bullpen usage. I have the mlb package and view archived games of previous matchups/
Capping games is something you have to enjoy. You may eat a whole can of kodiak or cope doing it daily. I prefer seeds.

First 5 lines are tricky. You have to take into consideration if the pitcher(s) pitch to contact because this will have a factor in the 4th and 5th innings. The lineup will get around causing ulcers for you in the 5th inning when a leadoff walk happens and the meat of the order gets what could be a 3rd rip at your boy on the hill who is missing spots at 87mph and falls behind and has to come with a 3-1 center cut that becomes a laser beam and you lose your 1st 5 bet 3-2.
It just depends on the pitcher and the difference in price between full game and 1st 5. Factor in the bullpen usage from previous 2 games and also the dailybaseballdata.com pitcher/hitter matchups of potential pen guys versus opposing hitters and platoon bench hitters.
we are dealing with a lot of s h it here.... 2:00 mark
