Cal Poly is probably one of the better 16 seeds in recent years. They were picked to win the Big West and seriously thought they had a chance at getting an at large bid to the NCAA before the year began, which is why they scheduled so aggressively in non-conference. Unfortunately they lost all those tough non conference games, which shot their confidence in conference play. I think the conference tournament allowed this team to put their disappointing regular season behind them, and they turned it up in the Big West tournament and are now playing well. They won't beat Wichita, but this isn't your normal 16 seed. A normal 16 seed wouldn't have been picked to win the Big West in the preseason and scheduled in pursuit of an at-large bid.
