Hoosiers AD: 'We're Indiana. We don't play in the CBI'
Among the four tournament fields announced Sunday night was that of the College Basketball Invitational (CBI), also considered by some to be the NIT for schools that don't make the NIT.
The 16-team CBI field includes Texas A&M of the SEC, Oregon State of the Pac-12 and Penn State of the Big Ten, among others.
But Indiana -- which was snubbed for the NIT -- will not be playing in the CBI along with those major conference schools, because in the words of Hoosiers AD Fred Glass, per theIndianapolis Star, "We're Indiana. We don't play in the CBI."
    Well then.
To recap 2013-14 for the Hoosiers, Indiana followed up a Sweet 16 season by going 17-15, 7-11 in the Big Ten, and was bounced in the opening round of the Big Ten tournament by Illinois (which accepted an NIT bid). The Hoosiers lost seven of their final 10 games, including one to CBI entry PSU.
This marks the fourth year in the six-season Tom Crean era that Indiana has missed the postseason, although apparently it didn't have to be that way.
But to reiterate, they're Indiana. They don't play in the CBI.

This a-hole needs to get over himself.
You are 17-15, you don't deserve to go dancing with the big boys.
How about winning a few more conference games before you start whining where you play and don't play

No Big 10 school should go to any tournament other than the NCAA/NIT after the season is done. No reason for it. IMO he is absolutely right in his statement.

I am a Indiana Alum and in my opinion Crean is the worst coach that has ever coached at Assembly Hall.

He is right. He is not trying to be a dick just trying to send a message to his program, fans, and these kids on the team. You guys want to keep playing? Keep winning. Teams with this kind of history should never stoop that low, it's insulting. If they win the CBI who gives a shit? Nobody. If they lose the CBI it is just another low point of an embarrassing season.

How about getting some of your younger players some more game experience. Stupid move.

There's another tournament CIT(the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament). I think CIT and CBI has started since 2009.

Should be noted that there are less available slots in the nit since reg season conf champs who don't make the dance are guaranteed a spot in the nit

Think it's perfectly reasonable. They expect more from the team, simple as that. Might piss some people off and maybe not the best decision from a career perspective but oh well, stick to your guns.
