Are There Games Still Being Fixed By Gambling?

I heard on the radio today that gambling is a $1 trillion industry worldwide. With that much money being thrown around, what are the chances that there are players on the take consistently? I would think this would be more likely in college sports, due to the income factor, but with that much money being out there, I wouldn't be shocked if it was happening in the pros also.

Pro? I don't think so anymore. guys make to much to make it worth their while to risk it. Too hard for gamblers to get enough down on one game to make the player's % big enough to risk it

NBA Refs? well we already know how that can happen

spread was 5.5

a Nugget basket there and they probably end up covering.

What do they do?

They seem to have thought they had 1.5 seconds remaining in the game for some reason b/c
they pass the ball in and almost immediately throw up a fade away 3 pointer that doesnt even come close


had they taken their time and taken a high percentage shot Nuggets prolly would have covered.

Also of note most sports are union run, and they do not operate on merits but labor, thus not doing anything after a big contract is a big problem. They don't have to play to win it is an industry not a sport(freedom) ala Barry Zito ect.

Get a quick 3. Now down by 4... You can play tight defense and not have to foul.
Get rebound go down quick 3 again, down 1 and prob have to foul.

Chris Webber - Guy use to miss key free throws that would cover spreads. Weird how he would make all the free throws during the game but late in the 4th qt... couldn't make dik.

Alan Iverson - He knew the line... and what and when to do it.

Stephon Marbury - Name says it all. Guy was shedding points all the time. He was the most obvious.


Sad part of it is... when you are on the other side of the action. It's effecting you... your wager... you have no leg to stand on. It's like throwing your money into a nice inferno. Money up in smoke. Worst feeling in the world.
