He's fragile. Said he felt like he threw 1000 pitches after he threw about 35.

Phils should have traded him in 2012 when his stock was skyhigh and the Phils were out of the race. Could have started the rebuilding process but instead choke to give him a big deal and use him as a building block.

I know but that was 2008. Cole has a ceiling. He was great in 08, had the down year in 09, but then reached that ceiling in 2010 and 11. To me it was obvious that he wasn't going to get any better than a very good pitcher (let's face it: low 90s fastball, great change that the rest of the league kinda figured out, and an average at best curve).

So we paid a "very good" pitcher approaching 30 years old top of the line money.

Your opinion is the same as most fans but to me, it would have been more prudent to trade him when his stock was at its highest a couple years ago. The team was clearly on its last legs and they could have gotten a king's ransom at the deadline for him. It would have started the rebuilding process. Instead, they chose to hang on to the old core and build around Cole.
