It's not entirely his fault - Amare's contract is horrendous. Imagine the Knicks with Melo, Kevin Love, and Tyson Chandler as their "big 3". That team would be 3rd best in the East if you keep the rest of the supporting cast in place and have a bright future with guys like Hardaway and Shumpert emerging. Then take Bargniani's money (you wouldn't have made that panic trade b/c you'd be stacked at the 4 and 5) and instead allocate it to upgrade PG and a 3 point sniper like Korver or Redick.

Having $20MM a year in dead cap money is a killer.

He plays PF with the knicks.

Nuggets had NENE at center and martin and pf.
Only guy in that roster that had any playoff experience was Chauncey billups.

And of course they played the lakers, with a kobe in prime and gasol, Bynum before he decided to play bowling trevor ariza and a healthy Derek fisher

And what evidence is there to suggest Love would've done better? Like I said Love has never even made the playoffs. A real "superstar" can make the playoffs with bad rosters, look at Dirk Nowitzki, he made the playoffs 11 straight years (iirc) and the best player he played with in that stretch was probably Jason Terry.

This post is great. Hardaway and shump are the only real talent other than melo on that team. Knicks need to build like the heats and spurs. 3 point shooters that can hit 3s off the bench
