I don't know about this one. I think it's too many teams. Anyone likes the idea?
I think it will water down the regular season especially if a team has qualified for playoffs with 3-4 games still to play.

bad idea too many teams making the playoffs games will lose meaning. More teams will be in the race longer though meaning alot of races late in the season meaning more money for the league. Its inevitable though and even if its not next year they will eventually add more playoff teams simply due to the extra income it will bring.

I like it. #2 seeds never deserve a bye. I'm not hot on 8 win playoff teams, but more playoff seeds makes sense.

that would be crazy 8 win teams would be normal 14 team playoff we will see a weird season where 7-9 or a 7-8-1 makes it in.

Guyz, if Goodell is for it, I'm against it. He is a total puppet for the owners. The NFL is the single greatest product in all of our country. IT IS NOT BROKE! He'll sling us some BS about competitiveness or inclusiveness.....he is a lying DBag.....who makes $40mil/year. He's worse than McMahon. Goodell talks about player safety, then suggests an 18 game season. The guy is a lying, manipulating, BS'ing, POS. Go the fck away and leave the NFL to us, the fans. Jerry Jones and Daniel Snyder and the rest of the owners are rich and their greed is trying to make them richer. Leave the NFL alone!!!! Just my opinion.....

Honestly... I'm a big football fan and I've always weighed the pros cons for a longer season or an expansion on the playoffs. Clearly it's all business $$$$$$ and for the viewer... it's not bad either. I'm all for it.

When you have too many teams you run into the problem of the talent pool getting too watered down. The NFL has this problem already, with most franchises failing to field teams full of good positional players. NHL is bad for this too, with many players that never would've been given a whiff of pro hockey 20 years ago.

NFL is so good now because every game means something, this rule would kill regular season

There aren't 12 teams that deserve to make the playoffs, so 14 hardly makes sense. Of course, the NFL doesn't do things like this because it's good for the game; it does it because it's good for its bank account.

#6 seeds are winning playoff games and even Super Bowls. That's a great argument for allowing #7 seeds.

Too many teams? Do you want to go back to the 1960s where only the 2 best records played for the title? It's 2014.
