I am not the one with the theory here, you are, postulating that goal differential considerations factoring into the prelim games makes them less likely to see a 1.5 line covered than an elimination game. No time now to crunch numbers, but pretty sure if you bet all the favorites in the prelim games where -1.5 was available at 5Dimes or Pinnacle you would be up.

My overall point is that betting -1.5 you should not be counting on an empty netter when you expect a close game. Canada at around +260 -1.5 here, meaning you need better than a 1 in 4 chance to have value, don't see it.
