I live in Raleigh. Here's the problem, we get a winter storm like this maybe once a decade. We don't have the trucks/manpower/infrastructure to keep the roads safe when we run into a situation like we did today and the salt/brine they had already put down was washed away from snow/rainfall the day before. Especially when we get 2 inches of snow in an hour and then a layer of sleet/ice starts dumping on top of it. That's what happened today. So to all you intercoursers up north I say go play with yourselves. All you yankees moving down here because your towns are crumbling shit holes thinking you can drive in ice are half the problem anyway. Us locals know to stay the **** home and off the roads.

The last major snow storm we got was about 10-12 years ago. We got 2 feet in a matter of 7-8 hours. Wasn't a problem because it happened over night when most people were asleep and there was no ice.


Everything we got Wednesday is pretty much melted now. The roads are fine. Sorry you live in such a shithole Thor, but I hope you stay there.

It's not that hard to grasp. It's not economical to keep snow equipment down south. Governments start keeping that around and they get raked over the coals for spending money on equipment the city doesn't need. I'd rather them not spend the money really and just shut everything down a few days. At least NC keeps salt around. You get south of NC and they sand the roads, not salt them.
