if jordan and bird were on this year's ballot, fans would have voted them in all-star starters too. all stars is a chance for fans to show appreciation for the players' accomplishments during their entire career and not just who has better stats at the moment.

kobe was 3rd in scoring last season and 2nd the previous season. you must have a completely different interpretation of what retirement means. injuries happen to everyone... jordan broke his leg and rose tore his acl. no one said they were retired while recovering, did they?
