    Bookmaker announces Super Bowl policy
    Interesting e-mail from BM.eu today:

In the event that the Super Bowl XLVIII date and/or venue is changed due to severe weather conditions, all existing open bets on the game will stand.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact customer service.

I can't think of any other similar situation. Anyone ever hear of anything similar? Are the boys in Vegas doing the same thing?

Nothing is going to change. Game is gonna played at scheduled time and day. Its all just part of the buildup.

No doubt. At worse it may have a delayed start and the halftime show canned.

I realize it's the longest of long shots, but sportsbooks have to anticipate any possible eventuality and make a rule for what happens in that eventuality. Ever since I've been gambling, which is quite a bit longer than I would like to admit, the rule has been that the game must be played on the scheduled day or no action.

I'm going to Reno this weekend. Will let you know if they have the same policy there.

The NFL are already possibly talking about a Friday early SB or latest Monday SB. Good chance that their will be delay. The delay has more to do with the safety of the fans, media, and security getting their. We all know football players can play in the cold. Trying to get people there with nothing but sleet on the road is another story, just flat out stupid. Anyone who drove over 3 foot of frozen ice knows WTF I'm talking about, it's worth risking your life for an NFL game.

I don't have anything on it so I don't care. However, how can they institute a retroactive policy change that is clearly contrary to their normal rules? If the venue or date changes it should be cancelled, and if I had a line that was negatively effected by that kind of change I would demand a cancellation regardless of their announcement.

That's how I feel. It worries me that a sportsbook is just overriding their own rules.

It doesn't really matter to me because if the game was changed and my bet was cancelled, I would just play the same bet on the next day. They may push the game back a day in case of a storm, but there's no way they change the venue unless something catastrophic happened to the stadium itself. Considering it is probably the most secure place on the planet right now, I can't say that worries me.

Good points. But I would think with the volume of action the Books take on the Super Bowl vs a regular game is the reason why they are overriding normal policy. Is it fair to the bettors? Not really. So maybe best to wait until late in the process irrespective of the line early.

Kinda like when someone says they gonna stop posting for good. It's all window dressing.
